Why do we put up with Microsoft?
So I've been having touble with my cable internet. Not because of Comcast, who has provided great service so far. It's the fault of my builder who was too lazy/cheap to install a cable jack in the 3rd bedroom in the house, which is where my home office is. Long story short, I had cable run under the carpet from one room to the other and the signal wasn't any good. So I had to move my cable modem and wireless router. Which meant making my desktop computer wireless.
Which brings me to the subject of the post. In order to make my desktop wireless, I had to install a wireless card in an unused PCI slot inside my computer. Physically, this is an easy task. Getting it to work with Microsoft Windows XP's "plug-n-play" of course is a completely different story. The computer detects it right away of course. But then the drivers have to be installed. Which means restarting the computer when it's done. Then you have to install the wireless software that comes with it, which means restarting the computer again.
This crap doesn't happen with a Mac. Why can't Microsoft get this right, and why do we continue to let them hand us crap all the time? I will not buy another PC for my home. If you're thinking about a new computer, go buy yourself a Mac, and if you need to learn how to use it because you're stuck in PC Land, take the free class at an Apple store. You can find a store on their website.
Oh, and their new commericals are a friggin' riot. Check them out.
Finally, this post is dedicated to my friend Neil and my co-worker Scott, both loyal Mac enthusiasts.

I’ve been a Mac baby since 1987, when they had the cute little 9″ black-and-white jobbies. And I’d still use one of those instead of a modern-day Winblow$ box any day of the week!
